If you're locked out of your iPhone and don't remember the password, don't worry—there are ways to unlock it. Here’s how:
Method 1: Using Face ID or Touch ID
- If you’ve set up Face ID or Touch ID, try unlocking your device with your face or fingerprint.
Method 2: Using Find My iPhone (iCloud)
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can reset your iPhone remotely:
- Go to iCloud.com on a computer or another device.
- Sign in with your Apple ID.
- Click Find iPhone > Select your locked device.
- Click Erase iPhone to reset it.
- Once erased, set up your iPhone as new or restore from a backup.
Method 3: Using iTunes or Finder (Recovery Mode)
If iCloud isn’t an option, you can reset your iPhone using iTunes (Windows or macOS Mojave and earlier) or Finder (macOS Catalina and later).
- Connect your iPhone to a computer.
- Put your iPhone in Recovery Mode:
- iPhone 8 or later: Press and release Volume Up, press and release Volume Down, then hold Side Button until you see the recovery mode screen.
- iPhone 7/7 Plus: Hold Volume Down + Power Button until you see the recovery mode screen.
- iPhone 6s or earlier: Hold Home + Power Button until recovery mode appears.
- A message will pop up in iTunes or Finder, giving you the option to Restore or Update. Choose Restore.
- Wait for the process to complete and then set up your iPhone.
Method 4: Using Third-Party Unlock Tools
There are third-party tools like Tenorshare 4uKey, Dr.Fone – Unlock, or iMyFone LockWiper that can help bypass the lock screen, but they may require a factory reset.
Important Notes
- All these methods erase your data if you don’t have a backup.
- If you have Activation Lock enabled, you will still need your Apple ID and password after resetting.
